Job Overview
A dynamic and challenging Electrical Engineering role offering an opportunity to bring concepts to life for an ever changing broad range of complex products across a diverse customer base within multiple industries. Initial role to partner with local & remote project team members while interfacing directly with Neilsoft customers, providing expert Electrical Engineering Design Services and support throughout all stages of the product development life cycle. In the mechanical engineer support role you will be contributing as part of a project team while working close with a project manager. Future growth opportunity is to be responsible to direct, supervise, lead and review all assigned engineering personnel and their assigned tasks for a project, which will lead into project management, scope development, schedule development, estimating engineering, equipment, installation and human resources.
Job Responsibilities
- Design control systems for complex automated systems “from the ground up”, which would include developing panel layouts, power distribution, controls wiring diagrams, specify electrical equipment, components, products and systems, system setup and testing, and work with engineering personnel in the creation of electrical schematic drawings in accordance with customer/project needs
- Ensure that the construction, installation and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
- Develop application specific PLC code and develop operator interface / HMI screens
- Program drives for the control of systems
- Work closely and should be very familiar with Allen Bradley as well as Siemens PLCs, HMIs, Drives, Networks as well as Safety
- A background in both manufacturing and process controls along with a strong understanding of instrumentation, analog signaling and basic electronics would be very helpful
- Generates technical collateral such as application notes
- Write user and maintenance manuals and demos for reuse by others
- Application Engineering: Read and understand specifications from customer
- Develop Design and Engineering Standards
Skills & Abilities
- Experienced in automation architectures involving multiple products and technologies
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge in architecting complex solutions
- Possess comprehensive knowledge in multiple automation areas and extensive knowledge in at least one area including, PLC’s, Networking, HMI panels, SCADA, PC-Based Automation, Safety, and Drives/Motion
- Must possess engineering soft skills in Solution fitting; Proof of concept
- Experience and demonstrated application knowledge of the automation industry
- Control system and software background required
- Proficiency with Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000 and Siemens Step7/TIA development software is desired
- Efficient in Microsoft Office products
- Must be technically skilled in the following: PLC’s, Networking, HMI Panels, SCADA, Safety, Drives/Motion
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required for this position
- Minimum of 5-9 years’ work experience
